How to make the perfect cuppa

We believe you should drink your tea just how you like it. However, by following these three tips, you’ll be well on your way to making your perfect cuppa

Ingredients

  • Your favourite tea
  • Fresh water
  • A kettle
  • A friend or two
  • Good conversation
  • Five minutes

Method

1. Black teas need to be steeped in boiling water to bring out their full flavour. If you want to get technical, it’s all in the flavanoids. They make black tea taste really good and these chemical compounds are only released with very near boiling water.

2. All green, white and herbal teas prefer a milder 80°c drenching to bring out their fresh and fruity flavours. Boiling water scolds them and brings out the bitterness that can be associated with green and white teas. If you don’t have a fancy thermometer kettle just pop an inch of cold water in your mug or pot before you add boiling water from the kettle.

3. Follow the recommended brewing times on the pack. Our teas and herbal infusions are organic and whole leaf, so they need a little longer than your average tea bag to bring out their fullest flavours.

Add milk, a dribble of honey, a slice of lemon, a sprig of mint or let it cool to room temperature, chuck in some ice or even add some booze – but drink it how YOU like it.

And above all, take time for tea. It’s a great excuse to take five minutes from your day, grab a friend, have a natter and step away from your busy lives.
