To create a truly sustainable business we believe that each and every part of our supply chain must operate efficiently and profitably, always producing top quality products or services, and with a happy, fulfilled and permanent workforce. That’s why we’ve invested in long term relationships, improvements and projects right from the smallest organic tea growers in Sri Lanka to our office in London.
We source our organic teas from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) for the delicate taste profile that the black, green and white teas offer. We buy direct from certified organic farmers who use sustainable farming methods and pay above market value for all teas and ingredients purchased that meet our tasting standards.
Good business practices are nothing without great quality products and we are constantly striving to bring our customers the best tasting teas and herbal infusions we can possibly find. Our Soil Association certification (Ecocert and USDA internationally) ensures no chemicals or pesticides are used in the production of our teas and Joe’s constant thirst for improvement means we’re always tasting, developing and improving our blends (and some new ones coming soon… ).
Our strong partner relationships, built over time during many farm and factory trips, enable us to provide our customers with an honest overview of our supply chain, providing information on our ethical sourcing practices. Internally we are introducing an open book policy so all employees understand the vision and are working towards the same shared goals. We are working on processes to enable us to share even more information with our customers.
We’ve always maintained that people are at the heart of everything we do, and it’s as a result of a great working relationship and friendship that we are in partnership with our friends in Sri Lanka and buy all our teas direct. They share our no nonsense and honest approach (with a healthy dose of common sense) to business. Our value sharing approach helps farmers, workers and their families to fulfill their ambitions by adopting sustainable methods of farming to safeguard resources and businesses. Furthermore, our factory directly invests in the supply chain by funding chosen projects to build long term businesses incentives.
Love Care Change was set up to ensure sustainability across the supply chain by investing in education, training and projects to increase production in farming and processing. Pioneered by our team in Sri Lanka, over 35 bespoke projects have now been implemented. We will be sharing detailed information on some of these projects after our next trip in summer 2017.
